The radial piston motor is a mechanical drive that converts the pressure of inflowing oil into rotary motion. It is particularly suitable for applications with low speeds and high torques (LSHT). Radial piston motors are highly efficient and generally have a long life.
Radial piston motors usually have a high power to weight ratio, can offer full torque from zero to full speed and are shock load resistant.
Used in winch applications they offer outstanding controllability for constant tension winches and active heave compensation winches.
Brands commonly used are e.g. Hägglunds, Poclain and SAI.
